Who we are
The "Ladies From Hell" is a group of lads who believe that kilts are well suited to vigorous physical activities such as climbing hills, marching in parades and hiking in the woods. However, we feel that kilts are best suited to drinking beer in the local pub! The kilt is a manly garment and we like to engage in manly pursuits while wearing our manly kilts. We come from all types of backgrounds. What unite us is our stout hearts, strong backs, patriotism and love of the kilt!
Our name honours the Scottish, Canadian and Australian Highland Regiments that fought so fiercely in the First and Second World Wars. The origin of the term "Ladies from Hell" stemmed from the First World War, the nickname that the German troops tagged the kilted lads that they faced in the trenches in France. The Highland Regiments proved to be worthy opponents for their skill and bravery in head-on assaults into the German lines, all to the tunes played by their regimental pipers.
The Springfield Detachment of the Ladies From Hell provides the Colour Party for official functions such as the Springfield Saint Patrick's Day Parade, and serves as the "Haggis Escort" at the Society's annual Robert Burns Dinner.
